This community was set up as a Cristina/Owen fan community, and now that relationship is definitely over with Sandra Oh having left Grey's Anatomy, and Kevin McKidd staying.

I will leave this community open! Both to continue to share updates on Sandra and Kevin, to follow Owen, to share future fanfiction, and to preserve everything that has already been shared. I've made many friends here, here is where I took my first steps into fanfiction, I see no reason to close the group.

I hope for Kevin and Owen's sake that Owen doesn't just stand around being Chiefly in future seasons. If Owen does have a future love interest, that will not change In the After - that doesn't have a place here, any more than Owen/Emma or Owen/She Who Shall Not Be Named And Can Just Stay in Germany. So when it comes to the show, let's continue to celebrate Owen, but I won't change the purpose of the community if Owen gets a new lover. Who could never be as perfect for him as Cristina, but I don't want McBadAss to be a monk either.

As you may have noticed, from time to time LiveJournal comes under a Denial Of Service attack from outside forces. That has led me to crate a Facebook group, so that if LJ goes down on a Thursday night, for example, we still have a place to go and chat.

Membership is open - https://www.facebook.com/groups/intheafter/.

First - [livejournal.com profile] athebeach_13 - if you're reading this, phone home, we haven't heard from you in a while!

This community hasn't had consistent screencaps in quite a while. I'm asking for volunteers to post Cristina/Owen screencaps from each episode. I know you have them, they're all over Tumblr. ;-)

I'm not sure how this will work, but I'm volunteering to set up a file sharing account somewhere, like Mediafire, so that we aren't reliant on one person's server space. I am very open to suggestions on which one to use. :-)

I'm also open to paying for an account, and passing the Paypal hat to cover ongoing expenses. I have all of the group screencaps downloaded, and I can zip them up and upload them, once I establish where.

If someone is willing to screencap the episodes as they appear on iTunes, so we get them logo free, the Paypal hat can be used to reimburse.

Those are my thoughts, let my know what you think!

Hey guys!

The Porn Battle Master List has been updated and is available for more claims. If you have not written for the prompt that you've claimed thus far you should have recieved a comment from me. You will have until July 21st and then after that it will be up for grabs again!

Let's get to writing and wake this community up. Nap time is over.
[identity profile] nursebadass.livejournal.com
Hey guys! I hope you are enjoying the season thus far as much as we are writing it. I'm honored to be writing such a fantastic story with this talented group of writers. This notice is just to let you know that my episode is going to be out late this week- Friday night instead of Saturday, as I am moving and won't have my internet turned on at the new place until Friday afternoon.

As an apology for being notoriously absent lately due to some personal problems, I am making the episode as long as humanly possible and posting the next chapter of Never Ever After on the same night.

I intend to clean up the porn battle list this weekend as time permits, but please do continue to use that list. I also hope to put up a prompt list for non-porn stories. If there's anything else that you want in the meantime, please feel free to let me know in ths post!

See you on the flip side. (And I'll be much happier when I get there!)

The Support Stacie Author's Auction is set up to take place this week on Friday, April 3rd and last until Monday April, 6. As far as I know the following authors from our community are up for bid:

[livejournal.com profile] jeribearrn for two stories.
ohcyfan.
[livejournal.com profile] crazyflirtca, listed as Shli on the auction board.

Anybody who wants a story written specifically for them by any of these authors, please visit the site and donate. The more you donate, the more words you get.

Reading fanfic to fight cancer. Sounds like a pretty good fight to me. :)

First off, I just have to say that I think it's wildly amusing that Meredith and Derek finally got engaged this week and it's completely overshadowed by the story of Cristina and Owen. It's being discussed far more on the message boards and it just makes me proud to be a part of this community and to ship this couple. Owen/Cristina are definitely the win.

So first up is a poll from MSN on whether or not Cristina and Owen should still be together. Obviously, with one stipulation or another almost 94% of readers agree that they should be together.

Like that isn't completely obvious.

Secondly, there's a great review from Matt Roush on TV Guide which says:

Romantic Gesture of the Week: Derek’s proposal to Meredith on Grey’s Anatomy in an elevator decorated with X-rays of his past surgeries, each linked to memories of his beloved. He tells Mer: “You get the rest of us to move forward because you’ve seen worse. You’ve survived worse. And you know we’ll survive, too.” Sigh. But will Izzie survive, last seen cradled in Alex’s arms in the hospital bed post-surgery (as my pal Rochell Thomas noted in her recap, echoing Izzie and Denny). And tell me that hearts didn’t break over Cristina telling Owen (after powerfully passionate make-up sex) “I can’t handle this after all.” Understandably, she can’t fall asleep next to him out of fear he might spaz out and strangle her in a post-traumatic trance again. Derek, fix this man! Kevin McKidd is the best thing to happen to this show in several seasons.

Of course he's the best thing to happen to the show. That's a no brainer. :)

Finally, I was kind of just perusing the community stats and everything this morning and I am so excited about this. We are at 317 members. Beyond that? There has been at least one post to our community everyday for the past three and a half months straight. Everyday. That's thanks to you guys. Thank you for keeping this community so great. I'll be posting later with the first week of hiatus fun- an icon contest. :) Open up your graphics programs and get ready to get creative.

And lastly, a HUGE thank you to our fabulous and uber-talented graphics wizard mod, [livejournal.com profile] far_to_nowhere who made our new banner and icon that sends me into palpitations and makes me watch the clip again every time I see it.

There is an auction that happens twice yearly to support a writer from [livejournal.com profile] ga_fanfic known by the Alias of [livejournal.com profile] truelovepooh. Not so long ago, this author was diagnosed with Stage II Ovarian and Breast Cancer and had no insurance to pay for the cost of her treatments.

Friends from the internet gathered together and formed the Support Stacie Author's Auction- a chance for readers from the internet to gather to one site, pick their favorite author and bid on them for the opportunity to have a story written for them- whatever story they want- while donating money to help pay for Stacie's medical bills.

Any author interested in helping to support Stacie and write a story should visit this site.

Readers, also keep an eye on the above site as well so you know when bidding begins. The length of the story you get depends on how much you bid. I know of several excellent authors that are up for bids [livejournal.com profile] slybrunette, [livejournal.com profile] milk_and_glass and others were a part of the last auction. (I got my story from [livejournal.com profile] milk_and_glass)

So please, pull out your wallets and your best (and worst!) fic ideas ever, and let's help this woman beat cancer!

I have switched the posting over to moderated posts now. That means that your posts will go into a queue and the moderators will either approve or reject your posts. I would strongly encourage all members to brush up on the posting guidelines as your posts WILL be rejected if it doesn't follow the guidelines. This applies to all posts, but especially posts that require an LJ-Cut. I have laid out the instructions for easily placing an LJ-cut on a post and explained it thoroughly, it is up to the members who post to use them properly.

At this time we've decided to disable anonymous comments as well. If you want to comment on a story, I would urge you to join the community. Setting up a livejournal is quite easy and takes almost no time.

Thanks guys for all that you do to make this community great!
[identity profile] nursebadass.livejournal.com
I really feel that I shouldn't have to post this notice, that most people would know better, but I have no choice after recent postings.

If you have an idea that's really more of a blatant knock off of somebody else's work, you MUST have their express consent before posting the work to this community. NO EXCEPTIONS. It's rude and uncalled for and it will not be tolerated.
[identity profile] nursebadass.livejournal.com
The moderators at [livejournal.com profile] in_the_after want to know how you feel about the community and how we can improve it. With the recent influx of new users, we want to keep this community user friendly and as clean as possible.

If there is anything you think that we could be doing better, anything that irks you, anything that makes you want to tear your hair out, please let us know in this post. You can also let us know what we're doing right! If you have any suggestions, those can go here as well.

All comments are screened and will be replied to by private message by a moderator.

Please use this opportunity to speak your mind. We want to know what you're thinking!
[identity profile] nursebadass.livejournal.com
As you can see, we now have a list of guidelines for posting to [livejournal.com profile] in_the_after as well as a tutorial for how to place things behind and LJ cut. I would encourage everybody to read that post so that you know how to post to the community, and how to do it properly. If you have any questions, please ask them here so that myself or one of the other moderators can attempt to help you.

I've changed some of the tags in our tag list to clean things up a little bit, so please take notice of that. All of the Hiatus Survival Guide stuff is now under one tag. Challenges cover the naming challenge we had as well as the drabble challenge. I am also in the process of adding a 'captionized' tag for [livejournal.com profile] angelamermaid's captions of awesomeness.

I may do a fic request thread later this week in which people may go to a singular post to post fic requests/prompts for authors to fill. Let me know if you think this is a good idea.

Thanks to all of you for making this community what it is. We're growing every day and I couldn't be happier with what we do. Only a little over 24 hours to go until the new episode! Let's make them fly by quickly!
[identity profile] nursebadass.livejournal.com
Despite the fact that she hasn't answered my message yet, I'm going to go ahead and post it anyway. After speaking with our other mod, [livejournal.com profile] far_to_nowhere, we have extended an offer to [livejournal.com profile] angelamermaid to assist in moderating the community as she is a huge contributor and makes the days less painful for us.

Welcome aboard? ;)

ETA: She has accepted. :D

So let's give her a good welcome and a thank you for keeping us so damn entertained.
[identity profile] nursebadass.livejournal.com
After checking the tally on the polls, as a community no collective name was chosen for Owen and Cristina. By quite a margin, it was determined that typing out Owen/Cristina really wasn't that much of a chore. Thanks to all of those who participated, it was a lot of fun. :)

Please don't forget about the current drabble challenge. The more the merrier, even if you're not a writer. It's the perfect opportunity for those of you who don't feel comfortable in writing but have a killer idea to see it finally come to life. Please throw those prompts out there. :)

The hiatus survival guide challenge is quickly drawing to an end with one week left and we have several entries! Continue to let them roll in. Entries will stop being accepted at 12 am CST on January 1st and voting will begin on January 2nd. Voting details will be in the voting post.

Thank you guys for all that you do, this community is great because of you.
[identity profile] nursebadass.livejournal.com
I would like to personally welcome [livejournal.com profile] far_to_nowhere as one of our new community moderators. She has a lot of experience in design and helping make communities look as great as they really are and generously offered up her help. Please help me welcome (and thank!) her. :)

Next up, The Hiatus Survival Guide- We have a few entries and I'm so excited for them. The deadline is going to be January 1st and we will begin voting on January 2nd with the winner(s) to be announced on January 8th. If you have any questions, please post them here. Please feel free to enter a batch of new icons or headers, new videos or new stories for this contest. Do not use previously made icons or stories for entry. The purpose of this contest is to get us through the hiatus with new and exciting things, not to bring up the stories we've read a million times and the icons that we've looked at a kajillion times. Got it?

Remember to use your LJ Cuts, which everybody has been doing wonderfully. There are several other Owen and Cristina communities that has popped up, but ours is the first and the best. :)

-JeriBearRN
[identity profile] nursebadass.livejournal.com
Whenever you post fanfiction, you need to make sure it's under an LJ-cut. I will let a uncut post remain up for about 10 minutes after I find it before it gets taken down. This is not because I'm trying to be bitchy, it's a matter of keeping the community clean and keeping my OCD under control (haha).

If you don't know how to do an LJ cut, it is as below, except replace the '[' bracket with a '<' instead.

[lj-cut text="This is your text"]

And that's all there is to it. Replace your brackets and the text, and then carry on with your text below the LJ cut.

Thanks!!
