Please welcome [livejournal.com profile] coforever and [livejournal.com profile] crazyflirtca to the moderating team. They have graciously agreed to step in and help out, as I will have to temporarily step back from moderating duties at some point in the near future.

This has nothing to do with fandom drama or my ongoing disgust that Teddy is still on the show. The reason I will temporarily step back from moderating duties is

A long time ago, in a workplace far far away, I had a freaky accident which left me with a concussion and whiplash. My neck was never quite the same since, even after physiotherapy. It got much worse 20 months ago, when I got into Wii Fit Boxing in a big way, and pinched a nerve. Physiotherapy helped again, but my neck was noticeably worse. Basically, I've been keeping the makers of Advil busy since then, while experiencing persistent numbness in my fingers and hands.

My last physiotherapist insisted I needed an MRI and with his letter of recommendation, I persuaded my doctor to refer me for one. It took ten months but I got my MRI last July (no, nobody sang to me). Upon receiving the results, my doctor immediately referred me for a spinal assessment.

The spinal assessment was last month. I got to see my MRI scans. I have a ruptured disc that is bulging against my spinal cord, so that's why I have a pinched nerve, pain, and numbness. I've been on the urgent list for surgery in the near future. I'm still waiting to find out when the surgery will be.

Basically, I need the surgery now, before the ruptured disc gets worse, and permanently damages my spinal cord. I don't want to end up paralyzed, so I am definitely on board with getting surgery sooner or later.

My spinal surgeon is not as hot as McBadAss, or Jack Shepherd on Lost. That's okay, I just want him to be McBrilliant. :-) And can I just say how much I love the Canadian healthcare system?

Anyways. I'll be off work for at least 4 weeks so that will mean lots of time to finally watch all of Rome, write shmoopy fanfiction, and start catching up on captionizations. I know that [livejournal.com profile] in_the_after will be in good hands. I'll let you know when I find out what the surgery date is.

Angela,
Sorry I didn't say it earlier, but I hope your surgery goes well and I will be thinking of you when you are in there. I know how scary it can be. I had brain surgery 6 years ago, so trust me I know. Just stay positive, which I know you'll do. ;) We're all pulling for you!! :D
